My hooman mom let me take over Snapshot Sundays for my Monday Mischief column in honor of of Adopt a Senior Dog Month…. I’m sure you are wondering why…. Well let me tell you a little story, my story.

A year ago, November 9, 2014 I was living with a really nice foster family in Redding, my foster mom’s name was Janie.  She works as a foster mom for the Resq Animal Coalition in Redding (resqac.com).  My mischief was somehow becoming a stray in Stockton, CA (if only dogs could speak hooman…) and the Resq Animal Coalition found me and brought me to Redding and my foster family.  Denise and Denton were watching adoptapet.com looking for a new furry family member and they found me.

Do you see all my hair?  My face and belly had really long hair but Denton and Denise have a lot of stickers around their house.  On my 1st walk more mischief followed and my hair filled up with stickers.  They decided I needed a haircut very quickly.

It took me a while to relax but I love my new forever home!  I’ve learned how to snuggle, lay on my hooman’s lap and enjoy a good back scratch (although belly rubs are my favorite), and  I have friends like Uncle Teddy and Odor who are even helping me learn how to play.  I also started basic training so I can try to become a therapy dog.

When Denton and Denise 1st adopted me they thought I was about 4 or 5, during my first visit to Colyer Vet (https://www.colyervetservice.com/) Dr. Colyer told my hoomans I was closer to 8.

Now that I have been diagnosed with Doggie Degenerative Disc Disease https://denisegruzensky.com/doggie-degenerative-disc-disease-special-needs-pets-1/    https://denisegruzensky.com/doggie-arthritis-special-needs-pets-2   I think it’s safe to say they have rescued a senior dog! Even though they didn’t know it at the time they have no regrets.

The ASPCA has a great article on the Top 10 reasons to adopt a senior dog (https://www.aspca.org/adopt/adoption-tips/top-10-reasons-adopt-older-dog).  I for one am grateful Denise and Denton found me and made me part of their pack!
